Biggest decision of the day - what to eat and drink?
At sea
An earlier start to the #Trans Pacific crossing because of the port closure at #Kushiro due to high winds. Funnily enough, we woke at 7 am and were greeted by an anemometer that was hardly moving. Ventured out onto the balcony and it was almost calm! How does that work?
Checked #Google Maps and noted that we were still tucked up in the coastline of #Japan. There were lumps of watery waves and a few little white caps but the ship felt absolutely stable. I have had my sea bands on since boarding - @Mac still doing it raw (or silly.)
Smooth sailing and blue skiesFirst job was to hit the laundry and of course, with only two machines available on each deck on each side of the ship there was a little bottleneck. Managed to secure one and left it washing around our breakfast date. And then zipped up and sourced a dryer in another laundry for our coffee stop. Had the countdown timer going and activated the #Princess APP to find each other's location and after days of being co-joined, we were unzipped from each other's hips!
Technology everywhere on board to keep you connected and informedAll worked well - I even had a coffee delivered (by @Mac) and watched a video while knocking over the ironing. Felt a real sense of accomplishment.
It was such a low key day with everyone settling in for consecutive sea days that it was a great day for conversation. Interesting laughs with an #Idaho couple who are gallivanting around the world in retirement. The wife had a fall in #Peru last year and required all sorts of emergency treatment which triggered their insurance. Hilarious to hear this recount of the "fight" with their insurance providers - there were some difficulties around full compensation entitlement with the claim - but she was a retired lawyer and he was a retired judge. Insurance company didn't know what hit them - needless to say, their costs were 100% recouped.
Hit the games room - mahjong and Crowns were everywhere - but we settled for coffees, puzzles and conversation with some fellow Aussies and an invitation to cards "any time." And of course, ladies locked together in a laundry room, supervising washers, dryers and irons led to some hilarity!
To be honest, the rest of the day was in "holiday" mode. Escaped to our room and balcony. Hibernated across the lunch break although @Mac did venture out to try the #Indonesian special of the day. Rotated a few jumpers across the balcony chasing the sun for the non dryer items and watched the ocean.
Our big decision of the day was to decide whether we would catch the on board ventriloquist tonight (our pianist's show was cancelled due to the drummer's illness????? That could be a riddle ... not sure.)
There is always entertainmentAnyway, elected for late showers and champagne in the room trying our own version of ventriloquism (fail) and took the 1000 steps to the other end of the ship for dinner.
Our stateroom is aft ... dinner is at the stern - our only walks today involved food and the laundryWhat a day. I would like a rinse and repeat for tomorrow. Just imagine what that would be like - wouldn't even have to do a load of washing.
PS Got a letter under the door tonight apologising for the "component of the tour" we missed yesterday because the gate was closed and it was not possible for some groups to enter the boardwalk and view the earthquake damage. We received a $40 refund ... feeling a "scammer" again, because we had ducked around the fence and we're the only bus group to actually complete the walk!
Getting a refund ...Weather: 11 degrees
Steps: 4 618
